At Garfield Services, we recently had the privilege of taking on a project that holds a special place in our hearts. We were entrusted with the task of transforming a tired and neglected hallway in St Helens into a bright and inviting passageway, marking a significant step in a lady’s journey into retirement.
The hallway in question had seen better days. Cracks, holes, and imperfections marred the walls, making it feel far from welcoming. The worn-out carpet only added to the dreary ambiance. Our client, on the brink of retirement, had a vision for a fresh start in her home, and we were eager to turn that vision into reality.
Our first step was to remove the old carpet, revealing the underlying issues that needed attention. Cracks and holes in the walls were meticulously filled in, creating a smooth canvas for the transformation. Every edge, including the stairs, door frames, and skirting boards, was caulked to ensure a seamless finish.
With the repairs completed, we moved on to the next crucial phase: painting. We began by painting the ceilings on both floors, creating a clean and crisp backdrop. The first coat, known as a mist coat, was applied to the walls using Leyland Contract Matt paint. This initial coat helped create an even surface for the final finish.
Our client had a particular vision for her hallway—one filled with warmth and sunlight. She chose the vibrant and uplifting shade “Lemon Punch” by Dulux. We meticulously detailed all the edges with this sunny hue, creating a striking contrast against the clean white backdrop.
No detail was too small to escape our attention. We took care to refresh all woodwork, including the bannister, skirting frames, and doors, with a coat of satinwood paint. This not only added a touch of elegance but also ensured a consistent and polished look throughout the hallway.
The transformation was nothing short of remarkable. What was once a neglected and gloomy hallway had now become a bright and inviting passage. The vibrant yellow walls exuded positivity and energy, setting the perfect tone for our client’s retirement journey.
